About the Event

Building performance is a combination of mechanical systems and envelope and waterproofing systems working in synergy.

In this presentation we will cover:

  • What is a building envelope and what are its components.
  • What does mechanical and envelope synergy look like.
  • Considerations for design of building envelope.
  • Common deficiencies during construction and how to mitigate them.
  • Building envelope at the end of expected life.

Duncan Gillis, P.Eng. is the Building Science Practice Leader with IRC Building Science Group, a Rimkus Company. He assists clients with assessing the condition of existing buildings and with the design of replacement and rehabilitation projects. He is familiar with the building process from conception to commissioning and have spent the bulk of his early career project managing large scale mutli-unit residential projects.
