February Meeting - Building Energy Quotient
Time & Location
About the Event
ASHRAE's Building Energy Quotient (BEQ) provides a quick energy analysis that benchmarks a building's energy performance against similar buildings in the same climate zone. BEQ assists in the preparation of an ASHRAE Level 1 Energy Audit that provides actionable recommendations to improve the building's efficiency and track the results. Two different evaluations can be used independently, to compare a candidate building to other similar buildings in the same climate zone, or together, for an assessment of a building's design potential compared to actual operation. These two evaluations are called “In Operation” and “As Designed”. This discussion will cover the advantages and disadvantages of each of these evaluation programs from a grass roots member point of view. There will be some discussion of local marketing of these programs and the value of using both programs together. Qualifications for BEAP’s and BEMP’s will be covered with emphasis on the value ASHRAE brings to its members.
